Random House publishes Los hijos de la Diosa Huracán

Los hijos de la Diosa Huracán, the new historical thriller by Daína Chaviano, has been published in Spain.

The plot, which combines the historical novel with suspense, takes place in two stages separated in time by five hundred years. One of the narrative lines runs between Miami and Havana, in the near future, about thirty years ahead from the present. The other line occurs at the beginning of the 16th century, between Spain and the Caribbean.

This gripping story recovers the rich legacy of the Cuban indigenous people through an intrigue starring two women who, in different times, face the dangerous greed of men.

A mysterious legacy connects a manuscript written in the 16th century by Juana—a young Spanish woman of Jewish origin, who escapes to Cuba with her father as they are persecuted by the Inquisition—and Alicia Solomon, an expert cryptologist who finds herself involved in a violent conflict of political interests during Cuba’s first democratic elections while facing the biggest challenge of her career: deciphering an enigmatic manuscript found in an indigenous tomb not far from Havana; a task that becomes more dangerous as she realizes that there are people willing to kill so that text, written by an unknown woman in the sixteenth century, never see the light.

The book will be published in USA by the end of June, but it can can be pre-ordered online. Links are available at the bottom page dedicated to the book on this web.
